Restricted Substances Seminar

September 21, 2006

Sheraton Hotel in Dongguan

Presented by the Environmental Task Force

of the American Apparel & Footwear Association and American Chinese Apparel & Footwear Association

Consumers and governments are paying more and more attention to environmental and sustainability issues, and we all know of examples of total product recalls due to non-compliance or other safety concerns.  New regulations in Europe, the United States, and other major markets and production centers have developed a confusing array of regulated chemicals, while new reports suggest that other materials may soon be banned.  Retailers are asking manufacturers to track the materials they use to ensure that no dangerous substances find their way into the clothing and footwear that they make, and manufacturers (brands) are pushing these requirements onto their suppliers.  At a minimum, these new regulations represent additional requirements and costs that manufacturers in China and elsewhere in Asia are being asked to understand, implement, and absorb. How can you best prepare yourself to implement these new requirements and how can you remain competitive in the process?

Join us on September 21, 2006 at the Sheraton Hotel in Dongguan as we hear major US and European apparel, footwear, and retail brands discuss why these restricted substances lists (RSLs) are important and key industry experts explain best practices and conduct workshops on how you can prepare yourself to weather and excel under these challenges.
